Work Samples and Coversheets
As you’ve worked your way through your college curriculum, you no doubt have completed a lot of assignments–essays, research papers, PowerPoint presentations, and so on. I hope that you have kept some of those assignments–and preferably in electronic formats. From your repository of such assignments, select three that you think effectively illustrate your writing, analytical, and presentation abilities and attach them as files (preferably in rich text format if they are text documents) to this assignment. A bit of variety would be nice, so if, for example, you have a shorter writing assignment, a longer writing assignment (such as a research paper), and a PowerPoint presentation or other document that contains visual aids such as images and graphs, think about selecting them. You can not use/include any work from this course as all of this work will already be included in your portfolio. Also include a cover sheet for each assignment that explains in what course you completed the assignment, why it is that you have selected it and what it demonstrates. (Your writing, analytical, and/or presentation abilities). Your coversheet should be the first page of each assignment. If you are submitting a PowerPoint, your coversheet should be added as the first slide of the presentation. (NOTE: You should attach copies of the assignments that you have revised after they were evaluated. In other words, you don’t want to include something that still includes writing errors.)
After reviewing the assignments you attach, I may ask you to make some revisions (to the cover sheets, for example) before you upload them into your Career Portfolio. Please note that completing, revising, and uploading the revised versions of these work samples into your Career Portfolio is a requirement for making a “C” in this course, as is stated on the Course Syllabus.
